A 31-year-old homemaker hanged herself at her house in Meenakshinagar in Kamakshipalya on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Bhavya. She was married to Dayanand, a private firm employee, four years ago.The couple have a three-year-old son. "Bhavya was alone at home on Saturday afternoon, when she took the extreme step. Her husband returned home around 6 pm and broke open the door, since there was no response and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival," the police said.
Bhavya's father Shankar has lodged a complaint alleging dowry harassment by Dayananda and his parents, but there was no death note. A case has been registered, Dayanand detained for questioning, police added.
