Rajkumar Singh, accused of murdering perfumer Monica Ghurde in Goa, who was arrested from a lodge in Cottonpet on October 9, immediately took a train to Mangaluru from where he reached Bengaluru.

A senior police officer said, "Rajkumar, who murdered Monica in her rented flat in Sangolda village in Goa on October 5, checked into Makam Comforts in Cottonpet. On October 8, he went to DVG Road in Basavangudi and shopped for clothes. He even clicked a selfie and uploaded it on his Facebook page. The Goa police, who were monitoring his activities, found that he was in Bengaluru and informed the Bengaluru police."

A special team which was formed, joined the Goa police in the search in Basavangudi but in vain. They conducted searches at around 30 lodges in and around Cottonpet.

An employee of Makam Comforts recognised Singh after he was shown the photo. Singh had gone out for a stroll and they waited for his return. After a couple of hours, when Singh returned, he was detained and questioned for an hour in his room in the lodge, where he confessed to the crime."
