State Adivasi Rakshana Parishat leader Muthappa Bettadamane on Wednesday said he will complain to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about the irregularities committed by the officials in the name of tribal devlelopment.

Speaking during a programme organised to felicitate Kabaddi coach Surendra atPatrikaBhavan on the premises of LampsCooperative Society,Bettadamane said that though a sum of Rs 15 crore was sanctioned towards various programmes aimed at benefitting tribals, the officials having an unholy nexus with contractors have misused the funds.

Though the roads connecting tribal hamlets was propsed to be concretised utilising the same funds, the works were carried out in places where tribals do not live. Moreover, though a programme was devised to give nutritious food to tribals, it remains on paper since 2015. The parishat will bring all these matters, to the notice of the chief minister, he added.

Bettadamane also exhorted the government to introduce a separate policy to ecourage talents among tribals.

Citing the example of Surendra, a Kabaddi player who works as a daily-wager to eke out a living, Bettadamane said, there are many such talented persons among tribals, who should be given a due opportunity to unveil their talents.

Teacher Janappa said, "Tribals have inherited skills on archery that has taken a backseat due to lack of encouragement. The government should plan separate policy to encourage sporting talents among tribals, who if trained further have the ability to compete even in olympics."

Taluk Panchayat member Sunderkumar said, "It is aimed at taking all the programmes to tribals as the parishat is committed for the welfare of all 51 tribes coming under the parishat."
