Expert from Singapore joins panel treating Jaya

A health expert from Singapore has joined the group of doctors treating Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Hospital sources said on Sunday that the expert analysed Jayalalithaa's treatment and consulted the other doctors, including AIIMS specialists and expert from UK Richard John Beale, who re-examined the AIADMK secretary's health during the last couple of days.

They said that as Jayalalithaa's health condition continued to improve, necessary antibiotics, nutrition, supportive therapy and passive physiotherapy were being given to her.

Under observation

The chief minister is still under observation of a panel of doctors consisting of intensivists, cardiologists, respiratory physicians and infectious disease specialists among others.

The last bulletin from Apollo Hospitals was issued on October 10, which said that Jayalalithaa was in respiratory support.

Meanwhile, actor Rajinikanth and his daughter Aishwarya on Sunday evening visited the hospital and enquired about the chief minister's health, who was hospitalised on September 22 following fever and dehydration.

Indicating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might to visit Chennai to see Jayalalithaa, senior BJP leader and Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan said the prime minister was keen to get information on her health.
