The health condition of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was examined by doctors from the UK and AIIMS for the second successive day on Friday.

Apollo Hospital sources here said required clinical tests were conducted on the chief minister.
Dr Richard John Beale, based in the UK, held discussions with an expert panel from the Apollo Hospitals and monitored Jayalalithaa's present line of treatment.

Hospital sources said Jayalalithaa was responding well to the treatment and necessary respiratory support, antibiotics, nutrition, supportive therapy and passive physiotherapy were being provided to her.

The chief minister is still under the observation of a panel comprising intensivists, cardiologists, respiratory physicians and infectious disease specialists, among others.

Meanwhile, the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu on Friday said Jayalalithaa, also the party general secretary, has approved the programme to observe the party's 45th founding day on Monday.

Two held for spreading rumours

Two employees of a nationalised bank in Coimbatore were arrested on Friday for spreading rumours about Jayalalithaa's condition, police said, reports PTI.
The arrests were made following a complaint by AIADMK worker Sunitha Devi, they said. On October 7, Sunitha had gone to the bank at Thondamuthur, where the two staffers, Suresh and Ramesh, repeatedly asked her about Jayalalithaa's health status. When she did not reply, the two reportedly made some comments on the health status, police said. Sunitha lodged a complaint with police, who registered cases against the duo. Suresh and Ramesh were arrested and later remanded to custody.
