Union Home Minister RajnathSingh on Friday said India is ready to weed out terrorism from Pakistan, if Islamabad sought New Delhi's help.
"Pakistan is being increasingly isolated from the world arena due to terrorism. If the Pakistan government wants to relieve itself of terrorism, let it seek India's help.We are ready to support them and weed out terrorism from Pakistan," Singh said at a public rally organised by the BJP at the NationalCollege Grounds in Bengaluru.
Singh's statement comes at a time when tension is escalating between the two countries after the recent surgical strikes by the Indian Army on terror launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Terrorists had killed 19 Indian soldiers at an army station in Uri in Kashmir on September 18 and this led to the surgical strikes.
Singh said that in spite of all the efforts by the Narendra Modi government to improve relations with Pakistan, there has been no reciprocation from Islamabad. "We have always extended a hand of friendship to Pakistan. We invited all our neighbours to the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We want cordial relationship with all our neighbours. But, Pakistan has been taking advantage of our cordiality," he said.
Singh said that India was not against the people of Pakistan but could not tolerate terrorism or terrorists. He said that for the first time after India became independent, the country had held its head high at the international level. "Prime Minister Modi has succeeded in giving the message to the world that India is not weak but a powerful country," he said. The minister said the NDAgovernment succeeded in checking "wholesale corruption at the top."
Singh was in Bengaluru to participate in a rally where retired IAS officer KShivaram, a Dalit, joined the BJP. Singh utilised the platform to counter charges that the BJP was anti-Dalit. The Modi government had launched several schemes for the welfare and upliftment of Dalits. Mudra Bank loans had been launched to empower Dalits, Other Backward Classes among others, he said.
Union MinistersDVSadananda Gowda and Ananth Kumar and BJPState President BSYeddyurappa were prominent among those who present at the rally.
