The CID, which was tasked with the probe into the kidnap that led to the suicide of DySPKallappaHandibag, is learnt to have given a clean chit to the deceased officer.
In its final report submitted to the court , the CID has concluded that Kallappa is innocent. Prime suspect in the case, Praveen Khandya, convener of VHP Shivamogga division, is still elusive. He has been named as 'absconder' in the report. A charge sheet has been submitted against 11 suspects already arrested in the kidnap case.
The DySP was named as fifth accused in the FIR filed against him atBasavanahalli police station on July 4. Kallappa was booked for scripting the kidnap drama of Tejas Gowda, a gambler. Tejas was abducted on June 27.
