Reports of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu meeting in New Delhi recently have fueled talks of an alliance between the Congress and Sidhu's newly formed political outfit Awaze-e-Punjab ahead of the Punjab elections.
Assembly polls in Punjab are expected to be held in early 2017. It is learnt that both leaders held preliminary discussions on the possibility of a likely alliance. Sidhu is looking for a common minimum programme to ally with the Congress.
