Bickering between BJPleaders BSYeddyurappa and KSEshwarappa has made the party central leadership sit up and take stock of the situation.
BJPNational General Secretary (Organisation)Ramlal, who is touring the state, is learnt to have told an internal meeting of the party that bickering among state leaders would cost the party dear in the 2018 Assembly elections. Ramlal is learnt to have told the meeting, held on the sidelines of the party's state executive in Belagavi on Tuesday, that division among top leaders was now percolating to the party cadre.

While Ramlal did not mention any names, he was referring to the differences between Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa. Eshwarappa had been repeatedly associating himself with the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, an apolitical forum for organising backward classes and Dalits, much to the chagrin of Yeddyurappa. The brigade held its first district-level convention in Haveri on October 1.
Sources in the party said Ramlal, who held an organisational meeting in Hubballi on Wednesday, spoke to party functionaries on the differences between the duo and the need to put an end to it. He is scheduled to hold another round of internal meetings and also attend the core committee meeting in Bengaluru on Thursday.
Party insiders said Eshwarappa is being supported by BLSanthosh, who held the post of state general secretary (organisation) for several years, to take on Yeddyurappa. Santhosh is unhappy with the style of functioning of Yeddyurappa and does not want him to take complete control of the organisation.
Eshwarappa has stated that the brigade will politically help the BJP by acting as an alternative to the Congress' Ahinda while Yeddyurappa has said all programmes should be held only under the party banner.
