The Aam Aadmi Party protested outside the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi on Tuesday in support of the Army and against the "misleading propaganda" by the Pakistan government.
AAP leader Dilip Pandey, who was leading the protest, was detained at Chanakya Puri police station along with seven MLAs and many volunteers.
The protest comes a day after Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal applauded the Centre for conducting surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
"We are proud of our brave soldiers for successfully carrying out the strikes. Our party has always stood shoulder to shoulder with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his government and our Army's efforts to expose the terror-promoting state of Pakistan in every step. However, when Pakistan spreads lies against the Indian Army and our country in the international media, our blood boils," said AAP's national spokesperson Sanjay Singh at a press conference held at the party headquarters in Delhi.
He further appealed the Prime Minister to strongly react against Pakistan's fake propaganda and tell the world how the Indian Army showed Pakistan its rightful place.
Taking a dig at the BJP, Singh stated, "While we are saluting the Prime Minister's bravery on the surgical strikes, the BJP accuses us of politicising the issue. We want to reiterate that we have and always will support the government when it comes to national security. Why BJP leaders are making statements against us is their own problem."
