K R Puram Rising will organise a lake festival to revive the dying K R Puram lake, also called the Venkayyana Kere. As part of the festival, various activities like run for lake, essay competition, garbage segregation and lectures on lake conservation will be held. The aim is to draw the attention of BBMP officials.
Purushothaman, president of K R Puram Rising said, "We have written many letters to the BBMP, Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board. No one has paid attention to preserve the lake. It is presently being managed by Fantasy Lagoon, a private organisation. But they have done nothing. The buffer zone and wetlands are encroached."
