The state government on Wednesday issued a notification appointing Subhash Chandra Khuntia as the chief secretary.
Khuntia will assume office on October 1 forenoon. He will replace Arvind Jadhav, whose term (extended by three months) will end on September 30.
Khuntia, a 1981 batch officer, was on Central deputation. He belongs to the Karnataka cadre, but is a native of Odisha. He is due for retirement in next November. Khuntia has a doctorate degree in Economics.
He has been repatriated from the Centre following a request by the Karnataka government. He is now secretary to the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development. He had also served as special secretary and financial advisor in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Before going to Delhi, he had served in Karnataka in various departments.
