A case has been registered against a police constable for driving the official vehicle in an inebriated state and injuring a senior citizen. Mariyappa (60), was injured when a police jeep knocked him down on Mysuru Road near Gali Anjaneya temple on Monday.
Ranganna, a constable with the VVIP security wing of the police, was on his way home when the incident occurred. A medical examination revealed that both Mariyappa and the constable Ranganna were drunk.
The police have registered a case of drunk-driving and dereliction of duty against Ranganna who is due for retirement in a month.
