British Deputy High Commissioner Dominic McAllister and his team engaged with Whitefield stakeholders, British nationals and civil society groups at Whitefield on Thursday as part of their outreach visit.

Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of 'Britain Meets Business @ Whitefield' event at the VR Bengaluru, McAllister said: "Whitefield is a unique part of Bengaluru which has evolved into a vibrant community and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) hub. UK firms such as ARM, Tesco, Test & Verification Systems UK (TVS UK) and Essential Energy have chosen to set up shop here. Many British expats have also made Whitefield their home."

During his company calls to Mu Sigma and Essential Energy, McAllister highlighted opportunities for firms to tie up with the UK at the upcoming India-UK Tech Summit, to be held in New Delhi from November 7-9.

McAllister later told DH: "The summit will see five large delegations from UK and 20-plus businesses taking part. It will focus on healthcare, life sciences, advanced engineering and science and innovation. We will travel to Bengaluru from November 9 to 11 to strengthen ties with the city-based businesses and research centres."

McAllister added: "UK and India are an unbeatable combination for enormously successful partnerships. UK is committed to India, Karnataka and the city. We plan to hold outreach visits to Peenya and Electronics City soon."

He also interacted with members of Whitefield civil society 'Whitefield Rising' wherein issues related to education and urban development were discussed.
