Yeligar rallies to enter semis

Abhishek Yeligar, seeded ninth, caused an upset, defeating top seed Hemanth MG 18-21, 21-13, 21-12 in the quarterfinals of the R Subbanna memorial and Yonex Karnataka State badminton championship here on Friday.

Having lost the first game 18-21, Yeligar fought hard and bounced back to claim the next two 21-13, 21-12 to advance to the semifinals.

Meanwhile in the women's singles semifinals, Shikha Gautam continued her rich vein of form to beat Chaitanya P Bhat 21-13, 21-8. In the final, Shikha will take on seventh seed Deepthi Ramesh, who overcame sixth seed Archana Pai 14-21, 21-15, 21-12 in the other last-four clash.
